A Word from the Chef

I didn't choose vegan. Vegan chose me. So I won't barrage you with reasons everyone should be vegan. If you're here, it's because you're looking for recipes you can actually eat, and therefore don't need convincing. My mission is to dispel the idea that vegans eat nothing but salads and smoothies, and to weed through all the nasty or labour-intensive recipes to help make your transition (and life) a little easier. *Herbaceous Babe began in August 2012. Herbaceous Faves

Have you ever noticed how some food blogs have one certain ingredient in almost every recipe, and it happens to be something you don't have? Well, you won't find a lot of exotic ingredients like irish moss or lucuma powder in my pantry either. In fact, you probably won't find a lot of coconut or soy either. What I do use a lot of are common fruits and vegetables, nuts, beans, and of course: herbs. The strangest items in my cupboard are dates and nutritional yeast. And much as I resisted, GF flours have greatly broadened my horizons (due to the vast differences in GF mixes, I will try to keep their use to a minimum).
